Andrius Kairiukstis

DevOps Engineer. Voice Platform Architect. Team Leader.

I build cloud PBX systems that scale to millions of calls.

I build and run telephony and backend infrastructure: Asterisk and VoIP systems, the DevOps that keeps them up, and the occasional Crystal library. Most of what I learn doing it ends up written here.

Background

I'm a VoIP/RTC architect and senior DevOps engineer with 18+ years building and scaling real-time communication systems. I've deployed voice platforms across 15+ countries - from embedded FreeSWITCH on ARM devices in rural Africa to cloud call centers handling thousands of concurrent calls in Europe and the US.

My recent work includes owning CI/CD tooling for 200+ developers, architecting push-to-talk voice systems, and building a full CCaaS platform from greenfield. I've worked with organizations from startups to large enterprises and government.

What I Do

I work across the voice stack and the infrastructure beneath it. On the telephony side that is Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, WebRTC, SIP, and SS7; on the operations side, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and AWS. I write backend services in Python, Go, Ruby, Crystal-lang, and Node.js, and lately build AI voice agents with LiveKit, Pipecat, and the OpenAI Realtime API.

I also do a fair amount of test automation (SIPp, Gherkin/BDD, distributed GSM test infrastructure) and lead distributed teams through technical mentoring and architecture decisions.

Based in Spain. Available for freelance contracts, consulting, and project-based work - remote or on-site across Europe.
